Marking the centenary of the birth of painter and academic Milorad Bata Mihailović (1923–2011), Gallery RIMA has published a landmark edition dedicated to the life and work of this distinguished artist.

Through studies by three art historians, the monograph particularly highlights Mihailović’s life and creative output between the 1940s and 1970s – a period crucial for the formation of his authentic artistic expression, as well as for the artist’s positioning within the contexts of Serbian and Yugoslav, as well as Parisian and international cultural and artistic scenes.

In addition to the central studies and the extensive biography of the artist, the book offers insight into valuable documentary materials: photographs, letters, catalog covers, invitations, and posters from solo and group exhibitions, as well as books and specialized journals relevant for interpreting Mihailović’s work.

The reproduced artworks (a total of 233) were created between 1947 and 1998. The carefully selected works presented in the monograph mainly come from the artist’s family legacy, as well as from museum institutions (Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade, Gallery of Fine Arts – Gift Collection of Rajko Mamuzić, Novi Sad, Museum of Contemporary Art, Skopje, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka, Zepter Museum, Belgrade), and from relevant private collections.
