
Dušan Otašević
(1940)
Dušan Otašević was born in Belgrade in 1940. He graduated from the Academy (Faculty) of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1966, in the class of Professor Ljubica Cuca Sokić. Since 1965 he has had almost fifty solo shows and participated in more than a hundred and fifty group exhibitions in the country and abroad, presenting works don in different media (paintings, objects, installations, drawings, prints, collages). From the early seventies he was also engaged in theatre scenography. He has been a member of the Association of Serbian Artists (ULUS – ASA) since 1967. He worked as a lecturer at the private Academy of Fine Arts. He was elected a corresponding member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) in 2003, and became full member in 2009. In 2011 he was appointed Director of the SASA Gallery.
His works can be found in many museums and gallery collections (Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, National Museum in Belgrade, Museum of the City of Belgrade, Art Collection of the SASA, the Collection of the Serbian Army Club, Museum Zepter in Belgrade, Gallery of Fine Arts in Osijek, City Museum in Sombor, Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje etc.), but also in many private collections in the country and abroad. He has participated in the following art colonies: Terra in Kikinda, Kolut-Mandić at Zlatibor, Chilandar on Mount Athos, Herceg Novi in Montenegro, Saint Etienne in France, Szentendre in Hungary.
He lives and works in Belgrade.
