
Milan Blanuša (1943-2025)
Born in Jagodina in 1943, he moved with his family to Vršac in 1948, where he finished primary and secondary school in 1962. In the same year, he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. He graduated from the Painting department in 1967, class of prof. Ljubica Cuca Sokić.
He earned his master’s degree in painting at the Staatliche Hochchule für bildende Künste in Braunschweig, Germany (1967-1971). He specialized in graphic in 1978/1979 at the Staatliche Hochchule für bildende Künste in Frankfurt am Main.
He began his teaching career as a drawing and painting assistant, at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, where he earned the rank and title of professor emeritus in 2012. He also taught as a full-time professor at the Faculty of Ap- plied Arts in Belgrade (1992-1998) and the Academy of Arts in Cetinje (1999-2014). He was a member of Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS) since 1971.
Blanuša held over sixty solo exhibitions and participated in a large number of group exhibitions in the country and abroad. He was the recipient of numerous significant awards and recognitions, including the October Salon Award (1978), Grand Prix at the XIV Biennial of Mediterranean Countries (1982), ULUS Golden Palette (1992, 2006), Politka Award from the Vladislav Ribnikar Fund (2001), Great Seal of the Graphic Collective (2001), Sava Šumanović Award (2005), Despot Stefan Lazarević Award of the City of Belgrade (2018). His works can be found in the most significant museum collections in Serbia, as well as in private collections in the country and abroad.
